I’m always just behind the times when it comes to holiday shop preparations, it seems. I thought I was finally ahead of the game this year, but then I turn around and Thanksgiving is over and the holiday rush has already begun. How can that be?!? I’ve barely scratched the surface of all the things I wanted to do.
One of the things I did manage to finish this week was a printable advent calendar. My family always had a new advent calendar every Christmas, and it was exciting to open each little door and see what was inside. It kept impatient young minds busy until the arrival of Santa Claus and gave us something to look forward to every morning. The Calobee Doodles printable advent calendar includes easy instructions and a few fun suggestions for use, including a design-your-own option! And for only $5, it makes a great inexpensive gift or stocking stuffer for friends and family. You’ll find it in the Print-a-Doodles section of the shop!
I’m cheating and using an existing design for this week’s Illustration Friday theme, transportation. This personalized kids’ banner I designed a while back came to mind immediately. On a personal note, my daughter has a sudden fascination with the “cool bus” (school bus), to the point where I may need to print one of these posters with her name for her birthday!
This week’s Illustration Friday theme is “proverb,” and I chose “An apple a day keeps the doctor away”… unless that apple is a witch’s poison apple! I’m in the mood for all things Halloween, so I’ve been looking for an excuse to doodle something spooky. I’m considering making this available as a seasonal print in the Calobee Doodles shop, although I fear all the black-on-black will be difficult to reproduce.
The Calobee Doodles website has an updated look for fall! Nothing huge, just some fall colors and a few acorns scattered about. It’s so fun (and easy) to change themes with this system, I can’t wait to start on winter’s theme.
Speaking of which, the website is getting some great press among design blogs lately… many thanks to the following folks for including Calobee Doodles in their web design showcases:
It may be hard to believe, but now is a good time to start thinking about seasonal marketing–Halloween will be here before you know it! Mason Girl Cupcakes knows that, and she requested a few custom postcard designs for the upcoming holidays. This was my favorite from the bunch.
