In the spirit of the season, I recently helped design a spooky theme for WordPress.com that required some funky monster illustrations — these little guys were the result. So cute! Happy Halloween, everybody!
Boo! Halloween is one of my absolute favorite holidays, so I couldn’t resist doodling something spooky for this desktop wallpaper. Enjoy!
There’s a new October wallpaper in progress, but in the meantime, here’s a doodle I created a few years ago that perfectly fits my mood. Picking apples and carving pumpkins, getting lost in corn mazes, yummy baking and hot soups and stews–fall is officially here and I’m loving it. “I found the perfect one” was one of my first illustrations inspired by this wonderful autumn feeling, and it remains a favorite.
Once again, I spent a long time deliberating exactly which veggies would make the cut (teehee.) Potatoes and onions fell by the wayside; the former were not visually stunning (although they’re one of my favorite foods) and my drawings of the latter were barely decipherable. Summer squash was a close second to pumpkins, but pumpkins won out for being more easily identifiable. I fussed over the cabbages in row 5 for a long time, and I’m still not certain they won’t be mistaken for Brussels sprouts, but hey, what can you do? And yes, I realize tomatoes are technically a fruit, not a veggie. Just play along. There’s a reason I’m not a scientific illustrator. 😉
You’ll soon find this poster in the Calobee Doodles shop!
