“Early” is a relative term. Never was this so clear as when I had my daughter a year and a half ago.
In college, I mapped out my schedule such that I could avoid 8 a.m. classes whenever possible. I made that mistake in my first semester, all for a Women’s Studies class during which I could barely keep my eyes open. That was my first and only early morning class.
Six years later, our newborn daughter sleeps until 5:30 a.m. and I do a victory dance. Even now, waking up at 7:30 a.m. is something of a luxury in this house. Funny how things change!
This was drawn loosely from a photo of Elspeth when she was about three months old. I thought I’d play around with a different style… it didn’t quite capture what I wanted to capture, but it gave me the opportunity to experiment, I suppose.
