I was struggling to come up with a doodle for this week’s theme until I mentioned the topic to my husband, who immediately said, “Why not draw one of your famous chickens?”
Ahh, my famous chickens. When I was maybe 10 or 12, doodling chickens kinda became my “thing.” I’d draw them in costume and in comic strips, inspired by the “Far Side” comics I loved so much at the time. I signed many friends’ letters, yearbooks, and textbooks with them, and occasionally people will say, “Hey, Caro, remember those chickens you used to draw? Those were funny.” I don’t think it was so much that my cartoons were funny as it was chickens are just inherently funny creatures, but obviously they were memorable.
So, for lack of a better idea, here we have Sherlock Chicken (or perhaps Chicken Holmes?) getting ready to solve the mystery of the fried egg. It’s a pretty brutal crime scene, as you can see, and not for the faint of heart!
